Alderfer, Claude M.
March 12, 1928 - March 22, 2021
Claude M. Alderfer, a resident of the Souderton Mennonite Homes, Franconia Twp., PA, and formerly of Sellersville, PA, passed away on Monday, March 22, 2021, at the Home. He was 93.
He was the husband of the late Evelyn Y. (Benner) Alderfer who passed away October 21,2009.
Born in Bedminster Twp., PA, he was the son of the late Henry W. and Aquilla (Miller) Alderfer.
In his early years, Mr. Alderfer worked as a farmer. Then, he was employed as a bus driver and courier for the Pennridge School District, Perkasie, PA, for over 40 years until retiring.
He was an active member of Deep Run Mennonite Church East, Perkasie.
An avid deep sea fisherman, Mr. Alderfer also enjoyed gardening and playing bingo. He will be remembered as a most welcoming and warm individual, whether it be at church or at the Souderton Mennonite Homes, always greeting others with a smile.
He is survived by a daughter, Pamela Sue Lane and her husband Joe, of Gibsonton, FL; two grandchildren, Kandice Bok, of Gibsonton, FL, and Randy Bok and his wife Kelsey, of Wimauma, FL; six great-grandchildren, Gage, Jayden, Nevaeh, William, Cameron and Levi; and two sisters, Elizabeth Myers and Alice Detweiler, both of Souderton, PA.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Willard Alderfer, and five sisters, Grace Sheetz, Mary Rice, Miriam Detweiler, Pearl Freed and Florence Alderfer.
His Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 29,2021, at the Deep Run Mennonite Church East, 350 Kellers Church Road, Perkasie, where a family visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. As an expression of care for others, we ask for you to wear a face covering and social distance. Interment will follow in the adjacent Church Cemetery.

Anderson, Rosetta
January 5, 1955 - April 21, 2021
Rosetta Anderson, age 66, of Nappanee, died at 2:31 pm, Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Indiana University Hospital, Indianapolis, where she was admitted for Liver failure. She was born January 5, 1955 in Bremen to Noah and Emma (Thomas) Anderson.
Rosetta lived her lifetime in Nappanee and was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Surviving are her siblings, Ivan Ray (Jeanie) Anderson, Goshen, Inez Mae Mast, Nappanee, Treva (Elmer) Otto, Kokomo, Mary (Marvin) Otto, Kokomo, Elizabeth “Betty” (Richard) Yoder, Topeka, David Lee (Wilma) Anderson, Nappanee, Noah Jr. (Lorene) Anderson, Nappanee, Anna Marie (Harley A. U.) Miller, Etna Green; brother-in-law, Lester T. Miller, Kokomo; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by a sister, Alma Miller and brothers-in-law, Sam Mast and Ray Miller.
Family and friends may call after 4 pm, Friday, April 23, 2021 and after 12 noon, Saturday, April 24th at the Noah Anderson Jr. residence, 11691 N 1000 W. Funeral services will begin at 9:30 am, Sunday, April 25th also at the Anderson residence. Home Ministry of the Old Order Amish Church will officiate and burial will be in Weldy Cemetery.
Augsburger, Oren Ray
November 6, 1924 - December 1, 2021
MAUMEE — Oren Ray Augsburger died on Dec. 1, 2021, at the Elizabeth Scott Community of Maumee, Ohio at the age of 97 years. He was born on November 6, 1924, to Raymond and Velma (Good) Augsburger in the family home near Elida, Ohio, the first of four children. He completed eight years of education and then became a devoted farm hand to his grandfather, Christian Good, helping with threshing, field work, making apple cider, driving truck and operating a saw mill. As a Mennonite conscientious objector, Oren was accepted into Civilian Public Service when drafted during World War II, serving first in Luray, Virginia, and then going into Out Service, working on dairy farms in eastern Wisconsin.
While working on a farm west of Seymour, Wisconsin, Oren was forced to walk to town on Sunday mornings to attend worship, and a neighboring family began to often pick him up along the road to town. This entailed being scrunched together in the back seat with the family's youngest daughter, Arleta Kollath. Out of the scrunching grew a friendship and out of the friendship a marriage. Oren and Arleta were married in Seymour on October 26, 1946. To their union were born a son and two daughters. For the earlier years of their family life Oren and Arleta lived in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where Oren worked at the Northern Paper mills, operating the machinery that wound toilet paper onto the cores.
In 1959, after the tragic death of Oren's father in an automobile accident, the family moved to Elida, Ohio, to provide support to Oren's widowed mother. On the basis of a strong work recommendation from the Northern Paper Mills, something which Oren always valued, he was hired at Ford Motor Company's Lima Engine Plant where he served faithfully for 27 years, retiring in January, 1987. Oren was a committed Christian and a life-long member of Salem Mennonite Church where he served as Sunday School teacher, elder and trustee.
During the eighteen years, from 1987 to 2005, Oren and Arleta enjoyed a rich and full retirement, with Oren enjoying many hours in his wood shop, producing many decorative and useful items. But during the last few years of retirement a cloud, in the form of Arleta's increasing Alzheimer's Disease, overshadowed the couple, until, in February, 2005, she had to be placed in a nursing home after Oren collapsed from the stresses of providing her care. Moving into assisted living in order to remain close to her, Oren faithfully fed Arleta every lunch and supper, except when needing to be absent, until her death. She died on February 16, 2018, in the 72nd year of their faithful marriage. Adjusting to Arleta's death was a very hard passage for Oren, but he managed to continue on his own for almost four more years. During his years in assisted living, Oren developed the hobby of using colored pencils to complete paint-by-number pictures, tediously and carefully working for as long as three months on some pictures and completing some real masterpieces.
Oren is survived by one son, Larry (Jeananne) Augsburger, and two daughters, Betty (Paul) Munn and Janet (Paul) Burford, ten grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren.
Cremation has already happened and a memorial service of grieving and remembrance will be held at Salem Mennonite Church on Friday, December 10, 2021, with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. and the service at 2 p.m. Burial of the cremains in the Salem Church Cemetery will follow.
Baer, James Edward
January 5, 1954 - November 7, 2021
James Edward Baer, 67 years old, of Salmon Arm, BC went to be with his Lord on the evening of Nov. 7, 2021. He peacefully passed through the “valley of the shadow” at home. His battle with Parkinson’s is over and he has received his Crown of Life. James was born Jan. 6, 1954, fourth son to Mervin & Fannie Baer, along with his identical twin brother John.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 yrs. Judy (Amendt) Baer and his 7 children. Hannah (Adam) Martin, Ghent NY. Jordan (Heidi) Baer, Castlegar BC. Mervin (Christa) Baer, Fanling Hong Kong. Heather (Marlin) Maldaner, Rolling Hills AB. Bethany (Jeremy) Reimer, Salmon Arm BC. Carson (Laurie) Baer, Salmon Arm BC. Sophia (Darren) Torkelson, Tilley AB. Thirty-three grandchildren. Four sisters and four brothers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, a brother Leon Baer, a sister Jean Rohrer, two brother-in-laws, Marlin Zimmerman and Jesse Peachy, and a grandson Jeffery Maldaner.
Dad was born in Carlisle, PA and lived there with his parents till he was 8 years old. Then they moved to McBride BC, where at 15, he gave his heart to the Lord, was baptized and joined the McBride Mennonite Church. He met Judith Amendt at Danskin, BC and on Oct. 26, 1974 they joined hearts and hands for life.
He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s when he was 50. Thus began a difficult 17-year journey for Dad and Mom and those who helped care for him. Through the many ups and downs of his illness, we found God’s grace sufficient. Over the last few years his main desire was to go home to be with Jesus and to be released from his earthly body of suffering. His voice in his family and in the world will be sorely missed. His positive outlook, words of encouragement, and intense love of the Word and the Lord are things we, his children, carry with us and praise the Lord for.
Dad’s love for the Lord and his love for people provided him many opportunities for service. He had a keen interest in missions in the Philippines and China. His gift of writing blessed many people across the world. “Beside the Still Waters” devotionals and working with CAMs Billboard Evangelism team consumed many of his hours before Parkinson’s ravaged his mind.
We thank family and friends for your prayers and support through Dad’s suffering. A special thanks to Dr. A. Heunis for your commitment and understanding to Dad’s care through his mental illness. We also thank Bowers Funeral Service for your compassionate involvement.

Balsley, Wanda D. Hartman
October 26, 1944 - October 1, 2021
Wanda D. Balsley, 76, North Fort Myers, Florida, formerly of Elkhart, died Friday, October 1, 2021, at Hope Hospice, Cape Coral, Florida. She was born October 26, 1944, in Goshen, to Lowell H. & Anabel (Maust) Hartman. On March 13, 1971, she married Lloyd Earl Balsley and he died June 24, 2020.
Surviving are a son, Brian (Janna) Balsley, Cape Coral, Florida, grandchildren, Brock & Gavin Balsley, brothers, Phil (Linda) Hartman, Wakarusa, Max Hartman, Goshen, sisters, Paula Clark, Elkhart, Donna (Tom) Caskey, Goshen, Regina Hartman, Wakarusa.
Preceding her in death are her parents and husband, Lloyd.
Wanda was a member of Yellow Creek Mennonite Church and was very devoted to her faith in the Lord. She graduated from Wakarusa High School and most recently worked for Carlton Manufacturing prior to retirement. She enjoyed anything that involved being with her family; her brothers, sisters, nephews, and nieces brought her so much joy. She especially cherished her two grandsons, Brock and Gavin, and was so very proud of them.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Monday, October 11, 2021, with the service following at 11 a.m., all at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church, 64901 CR 11, Goshen. Pastor Wes Bontreger and associate pastor Doug Gerber will officiate. Burial will be at Yellow Creek North Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be directed to Yellow Creek Mennonite Church or Center for Hospice Care, Elkhart.

Basinger, Orris Lee
May 5, 1930 - June 23, 2021
“You got a penny? Don’t spend it all in one place.”
Orris Lee Basinger was everything to us who called him Dad, Grandpa, Papa O, Pongkal, Hat Papa, Orris and O. Slight in stature, but large in love, devotion, grace, and servitude.
“It’s all part of growing up.”
Orris was born in Wayne County, Ohio, May 5, 1930. He grew up in a house where he nurtured his love of learning, athletics and God. David and Ella (Zuercher) raised him and his siblings, Dale, Elva (Hartzler), Lloyd, Clair, and Lila (Collins), to be hard workers, to love life and to find laughter in everything every day. He excelled in basketball and baseball. After graduating high school, he and his family moved to Virginia.
“I’m going to marry her.”
In Virginia, before his first date with Lois Ours, he told a friend that she was going to be the one for him. They were married September 25, 1954 and soon after moved to Lanham Maryland. There they made their home and raised their children Brenda (Barry Hummel), Mike (Pam (Robin deceased)) and Jill. He used the work ethic forged in Smithville to manage and grow People’s Supply Company in Prince George’s County.

Each day was a gift to Orris. He filled them with hard work and hard play. He coached his kids basketball, baseball and softball teams. He umpired all levels of baseball and took his family to Hyattsville Mennonite Church faithfully. Orris was a gentle, nurturing and commanding presence. Always hands on. Always teaching. Encouraging and pushing. Actions that would continue on for the rest of his life. Years passed and “siiiix” grandchildren became the apple of his eye. Beau (Nicole) Hummel, Burke Hummel and Brianne Liddick (Matthew), Brad and Luke (Nicole Litwiller) Mullet, and Jay (Gillian) Basinger. These years saw him train grandsons in the art of umpiring and, forming memories that will be passed down to their grandkids. Then came the great grandchildren, Bryson, Reagan, Kennedy, and Riley Hummel, Marreon Ross (Caledonia, OH), Caislyn, Jakobi, Breckin and Maylee Hummel (Berlin, OH), Brogan, Payton, and Corbin Liddick (West Chester, OH), and Matthew Basinger (Granite Quarry, NC). Over his 91 years of life, 67 of which were spent with the love of his life, he impacted so many individuals' lives. If you’re reading this because you recognized his name, you’ve probably laughed alongside him. He lived his love of God on his sleeve lifting up his family and peers in prayer. Always the first to volunteer and never one to burden others, Orris loved people. The ripple effects of his life will reach further than he would ever had imagined. In fact, he probably wouldn’t be enjoying all this fuss. We will make a bigger fuss with you all at a later date. A life lived extraordinarily.

Bauman, Arlene Auker
July 22, 1930 - January 17, 2021
Arlene A. Bauman, 90, of Palmyra, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 in Lebanon, PA. She was born Tuesday, July 22, 1930 to the late Paul and Naomi (Stauffer) Auker. She is predeceased by her loving husband Elwood Bauman.
Arlene was an avid cook and baker who also had a green thumb and loved to tend to her garden. She was the best listener and she was very caring to everyone who knew her. Arlene spent most of her life at home caring for her children and family. Most importantly she was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.
She is survived by her children: Shirley A. Weaver and husband Mervin of Lititz, Sylvia J. Bomgardner and husband Carl of Annville, Randy L. Bauman and wife Brenda of Grantville, and Rodney L. Bauman and wife Sharon of Annville; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by a grandchild, Austin Bauman, brothers, Daniel Auker, Orville Auker, and sister, Pauline High.
A funeral will be held Friday, January 22, 2021 at 10AM at Stauffers Mennonite Church, 790 Bachmanville Rd., Hershey, PA 17033. A viewing will be held from 9AM until the start of the service. A viewing will also be held on Thursday, January 21, 2021 from 6-8PM at the Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078.
Burial will take place at Stauffer's Church Cemetery Friday after the service.

Beachy, Kenneth Lynn
May 16, 1958 - October 4, 2021
Kenneth Lynn Beachy, age 63 of Wakarusa, IN, passed to his eternal home at 3:10am on Monday, October 4, 2021 at his residence. He was born on May 16, 1958 to Menno Jr. and Velda (Slabach) Beachy. He lived his entire life in the Goshen, Nappanee, and Wakarusa area and was a 1976 Goshen High School graduate. On June 3, 1978 Kenneth married Anna Marie Miller at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church in Goshen, IN.
Mr. Beachy was a member of Yellow Creek Mennonite Church. He worked several jobs in his life; having worked at Forest River, Newmar, Tractor Supply Company, and Yellow Creek feed mill. Kenneth also enjoyed being a cow hand milking cows and working as a small engine mechanic in his spare time. He was an avid fisherman and was a fan of the NorthWood Panthers, Chicago Cubs and Notre Dame Fighting Irish, where he had served as an usher at Notre Dame Stadium. He was also very proud for having participated in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Association Hawaii Marathon in 1997. Ken loved nature and his dogs and most of all enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren grow up and was always their biggest fan.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 43 years Anna Marie Beachy of Wakarusa, IN; his four children: Ervin (Ashley) Beachy of Wakarusa, IN, Angie (Ryan) Mattern of Wakarusa, IN, Kenny (Kelly) Beachy of Mishawaka, IN, and Starla Beachy of Wakarusa, IN; 8 grandchildren; 3 brothers: Wayne (Emma) Beachy of Goshen, IN, Keith Beachy of Mission, TX, and Karol (Patricia) Beachy of Nappanee, IN and 1 sister Linda (Craig) Miller of Amboy, IN.
Mr. Beachy was preceded in death by his father Menno Beachy Jr., his mother Velda Beachy Miller, and his daughter in law Erika Beachy.
Friends and family may call at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, IN on Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 1-4pm and 6-8pm. There will also be visitation at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church on Friday, October 8, 2021 from 10-11am. Beachy, Myra Elston Williams
December 18, 1943 - December 30, 2021
Myra Williams Beachy, 78 of Arcola, Illinois passed away at 4:50 A.M. on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at the Linda White Hospice House in Evansville, Inidana.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main St., Arcola, Illinois. Pastor Darrel Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston, Illinois. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral, from 10:30 A.M to 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Myra was born on December 18, 1943 in Charleston, Illinois. She was a daughter of John and Bernice (Sims) Elston. She married Tommie Williams in 1976 in Arcola, Illinois; he passed away in 1991. She later married Larry Beachy, son of Noah Beachy and Elizabeth Blucker.
She is survived by her daughters, Jeanette Suding of Sullivan, IL, and Tara Reed and her husband Charles of Villa Grove, IL, her husband Larry Beachy of Arthur, IL, two step-sons, Randy Williams and his wife Lennie of Arcola, IL and Mickey Williams and his wife Cindy of Oakland, IL, one step-daughter, Cindy Clements of West Frankfort, IL, nine grandchildren, Linsey Slama and her husband Stephen of Fenton, MO, Jara Mendenhall of Mattoon, IL, Ben Good of Effingham, IL, Zach Good and his wife Darian of Fairgrange, IL, Matt Williams and his wife Lyndsay of Arcola, IL, Allison Biggs and her husband Rob of Arcola, IL, Andrea Robertson and her husband Alex of Waterloo, IL, Brandon Williams of Oakland, IL and Nathan Clements of West Frankfort, IL, 14 great-grandchildren, and one very special sister, Donna Canary and her husband Don of Springfield, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one husband, Tommie Williams.
Myra was a member of the Arthur Mennonite Church, Arthur, Illinois. She really enjoyed managing the Raggedy Ann and Andy Museum in Arcola, IL. She had worked at Eastern Illinois University and the Dutch Kitchen in Arcola.
Myra loved to decorate cakes, antiquing and flower gardening. She enjoyed visiting Florida, looking for seashells on the beach and spending time in the sun, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her girls.

Beechy, Susie Ilene Troyer
January 27, 1967 - December 28, 2021
Susie Ilene Beechy, 54, of Millersburg, died at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, December 28, at home, after a one year battle with cancer. She was born on January 27, 1967 in LaGrange County to Eli and Ruby (Miller) Troyer. On November 10, 2005, in Elkhart County, she married Daniel Jay Beechy, he survives.
Survivors in addition to her husband are two stepsons, LaVern (Karen) Beechy of Bristol, Dannie (Martha) Beechy of Millersburg; four stepdaughters, Mary Anna (Floyd) Mast of LaGrange, Marilyn (Gerald) Yoder of Middlebury, Katie (Joe) Miller of Middlebury, Wilma (Glen) Lambright of LaGrange; 20 step-grandchildren; her mother of Shipshewana; four brothers, Howard (Betty) Troyer of Emmett, ID, Vernon (Mary) Troyer of LaGrange, Crist (Linda) Troyer of Shipshewana, David Troyer of Sturgis, MI; four sisters, Wilma (David) Hochstetler of Topeka, Leora (Amos) Hochstetler of Topeka, Marlene (Vernon) Lehman of Shipshewana, Esther (Richard) Miller of Topeka.
She was preceded in death by her father; a stillborn stepdaughter, Ruth Beechy and a Niece, Sharon Sue Miller.
Susie was a homemaker and member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be after 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 29, and all day Thursday, December 30, at the Freeman Lehman residence, 10915 W. 600 S., Millersburg. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Friday, December 31, at the same residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Harry W. Miller and the home ministers. Burial will be in Honeyville Cemetery, Topeka.
Beery, Angilee Miller
December 15, 1941 - August 20, 2021
Angilee Miller Beery, age 79, of North Manchester, died on Friday, August 20, 2021, following a recent diagnosis of advanced gastric cancer.
Angilee was born December 15, 1941, in Middlebury, Indiana, and lived in North Manchester continuously beginning in 1965. She graduated from Manchester College in 1963 with a degree in Elementary Education and later earned a Master of Science degree in Education from Saint Francis College. Angilee taught elementary school in Manchester Community Schools for 41 years, retiring in 2009. After retirement, she continued to work part-time as a dining room hostess at Timbercrest Retirement Community, where she was beloved by residents and staff. She also volunteered for several years in an elementary classroom supporting students with math and reading. A voracious reader herself, she was a member of several local book groups.
A long-time member of Manchester Church of the Brethren, Angilee led Sunday School and volunteered on numerous committees. She served on the board of the Manchester Early Learning Center and was invested in its success. A loyal patron of local shops and farmers, she believed in supporting businesses that put people and the community first.
An avid and talented quilter, Angilee was a member of the quilt clubs Creative Threaders and Sew Much Fun, and she looked forward to Camp Mack Quilt Retreats for sewing and fellowship. During the pandemic, she sewed hundreds of masks for family, friends, schools, and other organizations. Recently, she bought sewing supplies for a widows’ group in Malawi, Africa.
Angilee cherished visits with her family and enjoyed sharing her skills as a baker, sewer, reader, and gardener with her children and grandchildren. She cultivated and nurtured close realationships with friends, relatives, and college classmates, traveling near and far to visit, dine, and adventure together. Over several decades Angilee supported the operations of Beery Farms by delivering meals to the fields and helping transport people and vehicles from farm to farm.
Angilee survived multiple cancer diagnoses beginning in 1994, facing health challenges with grit and courage. She reciprocated the kindness of others by generously supporting family and friends who faced complications of their own.
Angilee was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Harold W. Miller, and by her mother, Louise Reed Miller. She is survived by her brother Kenneth Miller (Zelba) of Chesterton, her husband, Leland Beery of North Manchester, son Robin Beery (Sonya Yoder-Beery) of Indianapolis, son Gary Beery (Angela Rogers) of Palo Alto, CA, daughter Alyson Beery (Neil Westendorf) of Leadville, CO, and grandchildren Ruth and Hazel, Margaret and Caroline, and Sylas and Camilla. She leaves behind many beloved relatives, friends, and former students who will miss her generosity, energy, passion for learning, and love of life.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date at Manchester Church of the Brethren.
The family of Angilee Beery has entrusted McKee Mortuary with care and final arrangements.

Anna M. Beiler, 99, of Honey Brook, formerly of Morgantown, died Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Tel Hai Retirement Community after a lengthy illness.
Born in Honey Brook, she was a daughter of the late John M. and Rachel (Smoker) Fisher. Her husband, Isaac Beiler, died in 1995.
Anna worked as a machine operator at the former SLC Fashions in Blue Ball and later at a sewing factory in Mifflinburg where she retired in 1981. Following her retirement, she worked from home making quilts.
She was a member of Churchtown Mennonite Church and enjoyed gardening and quilting. She also took care of Ada Beam for 15 months.
Surviving are seven stepchildren, Mary (Herbert) Hoover of New Carlisle, OH, Martha (Carl) Dietrich of Bellefonte, Clarence (Dorothy) Beiler of Mifflinburg, Elam (Charlotte) Beiler of Middleburg, Naomi Keiper of Winfield, Verna Mae (Kenneth) Buckwalter of New Holland, and Arlene (Ronald) Gipe of Greencastle; 36 step grandchildren; over 100 step great-grandchildren; many step great-great-grandchildren; many step great-great-great-grandchildren; and 18 nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death is a stepdaughter, Ada Ginder; four sisters, Susan Kartz, Elsie Fisher, Ada Fisher, and Sadie Stoltzfus; and two brothers, John and Amos Fisher.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 5 at 11 a.m. at Conestoga Mennonite Cemetery, 2779 Main St., Morgantown. Beiler, Betty Swartz
September 11, 1934 - January 24, 2021
Betty (Swartz) Beiler, age 86, greeted her heavenly father early in the morning on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home at Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community located in Harrisonburg, Va.
Betty was born in Au Gres, Mich., to John and Katie Swartz on Sept. 11, 1934. She married Sam Beiler on June 24, 1972. Betty spent many years as an elementary school teacher and recalled many fond memories of this time in her life. She was a member at Lindale Mennonite Church and also attended River Oaks Church.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Beiler; parents, John and Katie Swartz; stepmom, Fanny (Litwiller) Swartz; brother, Marlin Swartz; stepson, Marvin Beiler; stepgrandson, Brian Beiler; and sister-in-law, Marcella Swartz.
Betty is survived by her stepchildren, Myra Gingerich (Dan) of Florida and Mark Beiler (Barbara) of Florida; grandchildren, Beth Tye (Tony), Katrina Reese and Heather Wartenberg; great-grandchildren, Justin and Jeffrey Tye, Sasha Reese and her son, Coulson, Alexandria Langford; siblings, Lavern Swartz of Indiana, Arnie Swartz of Michigan, Twila Swartz Seland (Paul) of Virginia, Carl Litwiller (Nancy) of Virginia, Glen Litwiller (Naomi) of Oregon, Nancy Kauffman (Dean) of Indiana, Cliff Litwiller (Carol) of Florida and Larry Litwiller (Nelda) of Virginia and a sister-in-law, Sherrill Swartz of Michigan.
Betty’s love and affection was poured over so many including nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. For the past 13 years, her sister, Twila Seland, and special niece and nephew, Jenn Frederick and husband, Dan, and Jon Seland and fiancé, Mollie, cared for her. Her great-grand niece and nephew, Cora and Carson Frederick, were the light of her life. She loved others with a richness that quickly turned acquaintances into lifelong friends. Above all, she loved her heavenly father and relied on him for eternal salvation. We rejoice with Betty as she has now been joined with her father in heaven.

Lydia Z. Beiler, 90, of Fairmount Homes, Ephrata, formerly of New Holland, went home to be with the Lord on February 19, 2021.
She was the daughter of the late Jonas and Rebecca (Zook) Beiler. A member of New Covenant Mennonite Fellowship, Lydia worked as a custodian for Conestoga Valley School District.
Lydia is survived by: a sister, Naomi wife of the late David J. Huyard of New Holland; brother, Alvin Z. husband of Malinda Smoker Beiler of Gordonville; 12 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Simeon and Daniel Beiler, and a sister, Miriam King.

Steven Conrad Birky, 66, passed away from cancer on October 7, 2021 at his residence in Saverne, France.
He was born to Verna and Luke Birky on July 4, 1955 in La Junta, CO.
He was married to his loving wife, Therese Birky on December 24th, 1981, who survives.
Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Verna Birky and his granddaughter, Deanne Birky Hartmann.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Angelique Birky (Simon) Hartmann of Cleveland, OH; his father, Luke Birky of Goshen; brother Karl (Ginny) Birky of Newberg, OR; sisters, Anne Birky of Goshen, Kate (Tim Welsh) Birky of Payson, AZ and Rachel (Steve) Hamilton from Lake Elsinore, CA; the Vu family rooted in France and Luxembourg and nieces and nephews on each side of the family.
Steve graduated from Concord High School and Goshen College. He was a member of College Mennonite Church and regularly attended Nativity Church in Saverne, where an ecumenical funeral service was held on October 12, 2021.
Although Steve had been living in France since 1981 and was a beloved member of the community in Saverne, he was also loved by many friends and relatives in the Goshen community. He loved to help others, laugh, live, and love. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, black smithing, and remodeling houses. He was a member of several charities who helped the elders and the less fortunate in France.
The memorial service for Steve will take place Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 2 p.m. at College Mennonite Church, located at 1900 South Main Street, Goshen, IN, 46526. Friends and family will also gather post-service for light French-style food at the CMC Fellowship Hall to remember, cry and laugh together in celebration of Steve's life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to College Mennonite Church, Mennonite Central Committee, LaCasa (Goshen), Habitat for Humanity, or the Goshen College Foreign Exchange Program.

Tricia E. Blosser, 48, of Goshen, died Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend.
She was born January 20, 1973 in Kendallville. Her parents, Emerson E. and Stella E. (Yoder) Blosser, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her brother, Marc (Angela) Blosser, and nephews, Ryan & Brenden Blosser, all of Goshen.
Tricia was a graduate of Bethany Christian High School and held an associate degree as a licensed practical nurse and worked in the healthcare field in a variety of positions. She enjoyed caring for people and loved animals, her dog "Giz" in particular.
A memorial service is being planned at Pleasant View Church. Pastor Ron Diener will officiate.

October 14, 1933 - December 4, 2021
J. Richard Boll, 88, of Richland, PA, formerly of Manheim, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday evening, December 4, 2021 at Richland Christian Home following a period of declining health. Born in Penn Twp., Lancaster County, he was the son of the late Joseph W. and Ruth Ebersole Boll. He was the husband of Esther Longenecker Boll for 66 years on January 15.
Richard was dedicated to his church and was a faithful member of New Haven Mennonite Church in Lititz. He had a heart for missions and served at 6th Street Mission in Philadelphia for seven years. He is the last of the founders of Mid-Atlantic Mennonite Fellowship. He loved his family and others.
In addition to operating a dairy farm in the Lititz area and being a self-employed excavator, he was employed by Zeiset Equipment.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Randy, husband of Rose Stauffer Boll, of Manheim, Thomas, husband of Deborah Garman Boll, of Denver, Lisa, wife of Lynn Horst, of Memphis, MO, Robert, husband of Miraflor Llenos Boll, of Lititz, and Grace, wife of Glenn Martin, of East Earl; a son-in-law, James Parish, husband of the late Audrey Boll Parish, of Lititz; 18 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and five siblings, Orpha, wife of the late Joseph Wadel, Kippen, ON, Mervin, husband of Pauline Weaver Boll, of Manheim, Daniel, husband of Dorothy Ebersole Boll, of Millmont, Mary Jane, wife of Samuel Metzler, of Peach Bottom, and Alta Mae, wife of the late Lehman Metzler, of Willow Street. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan Boll; and a sister, Miriam, wife of the late Harry Metzler.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 10:00 AM at New Haven Mennonite Church, 230 Crest Road, Lititz, PA with Amos Hurst, Barry Zeiset, Marvin Zeiset, and Jeremy Martin officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive guests during a public viewing at the church on Thursday from 2-4:00 PM and 6-8:00 PM and on Friday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Please omit flowers. Delores L. Bollman, 88, of Nappanee, IN, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at 11:00pm, at her residence. She was born on April 21, 1933 to Robert and Gladys (Strine) Heckaman in Elkhart County. Delores was a graduate of Milford High School and lived her entire life in the Elkhart and Marshall County area.
She married Francis “Fritz” Bollman on July 7, 1951 at Island Chapel Church. He preceded her in death on December 10, 2016.
Delores retired from Dwyer Instruments and was a housewife. She was a member of the First Mennonite Church and participated in the community ladies Bible study. Delores also enjoyed time with family, sewing, gardening, and going to garage sales.
She is survived by her children: Cathy (Thomas) Moody, Milford, IN; Carol (Eric) Botset, Nappanee, IN; Kim (Rick) Walters, Syracuse, IN; and Brad (Paula) Bollman, Bristol, IN; 16 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and a sister, Marie (Dale) Mikel, Bremen, IN.
Delores was preceded in death by a son, Steve Bollman; 4 brothers; Kenneth, Harold, Robert, and LeVon Heckaman; and a sister, Virginia Messner.

Alton E. Bontrager, 84, of Middlebury, died unexpectedly at 8:07 pm on Wednesday, June 30 at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born on September 30, 1936, in LaGrange, to Eli and Anna (Yoder) Bontrager. On November 17, 1966, in Goshen, he married Arlene Miller; she survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are two sons, Arlin (Lynetta) Bontrager of Goshen, Allen (Brenda) Bontrager of Tippecanoe; three daughters, Nancy (Lamar) Schlabach, Naomi Bontrager, Norma (Jerry) Schlabach all of Middlebury; 19 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edna Farmwald, Elizabeth Hochstetler both of Shipshewana.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Homer, Harley, and Levi Bontrager; three sisters, Fannie Miller, Lovina Whetstone, Wilma Miller.
Alton was a farmer and later in life did book binding. He was a member and Sr. Bishop in the Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be after 1:00 pm on Friday, July 2 and all day Saturday, July 3 at the family residence, 13556 CR 22, Middlebury. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Sunday, July 4 also at the family residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Dean Gingerich and the home ministers. Ellis Bontrager, 82, of Goshen, formerly of Bristol, passed away at 11:06 AM on Sunday, September 5 at Greencroft Health Care, Goshen, after a long battle with cancer. He was born on March 11, 1939 in LaGrange County to Ora J. and Katie Fry Bontrager. On September 20, 1959 in Goshen, he married Ruby Bontrager.
Survivors include his wife, three children, Keith & Janet Bontrager, Syracuse, Roger & Clara Bontrager, Glendale, AZ, Valerie Bontrager, Glendale, AZ; four grandchildren; Alex & Kara Korenstra, Connor Bontrager, Clay & Sidney Bontrager, Chloe Bontrager, two great grandchildren; seven brothers, Elvie & Ruby Bontrager of Goshen, Allen & Jackie Bontrager, Casa Grande, AZ, Elroy & Mickey Bontrager of Goshen, Albert & Patty Bontrager of Wakarusa, Verlo & Linda Bontrager, LaGrange, Cletus & Brenda Bontrager, LaGrange, Marlin & Brenda Bontrager, Auburn; five sisters, Ada Schrock, Bemidji, MN, Mary Colwell, Brandon, MS, Ola Cosby, Charlotte, MI, Bessie Lehman, Duncan, SC, Velma & Jim Larimer, Fairview, MI.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eldon Bontrager; three brothers-in-law, Omer Cosby, Larry Lehman, and Dave Schrock.
Ellis earned his B.S. degree from Goshen College and his M.A. in Education from UNM, University of New Mexico. He taught elementary level for 30 years, both in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Edwardsburg, Michigan Public Schools. He was a Member of Bonneyville Mennonite Church where he served in congregational leadership, was active in the Stephen Ministry Program and as a youth sponsor. He volunteered for many years for the Bonneyville Days festival and served with MDS which is Mennonite Disaster Service. He was known for his carpenter skills and was never afraid to try new adventures or take on new projects.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, September 8, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main Street Middlebury. A private graveside service will be held at Clinton Union Cemetery, Goshen prior to the 11:00 am memorial service on Thursday, September 9, at Bonneyville Mennonite Church, Bristol. It is requested that a facial covering be worn during all services. Services will be conducted by Pastor Mariah Martin. Memorials may be given to Mennonite Mission Network.

Ervin A. Bontrager, 78, of Millersburg, died at 11:15 am, on Thursday, August 5 at his residence. He was born on April 16, 1943, in LaGrange, to Amos D. and Esther (Eash) Bontrager. On December 18, 1962, in Topeka, he married Irene M. Lambright; she died June 5, 2019.
Surviving are six daughters, LorAnna (LaVern) Hochstetler of Middlebury, Arlene (Al) Fry of Millersburg, Thelma (Dave) Bontrager of Middlebury, Ramah (Ervin) Lehman of Middlebury, Treva (Mervin) Miller of Topeka, Glenda (Menno) Hershberger of Millersburg; two sons, Kenneth (Jewel) Bontrager of Goshen, Leon (Darlene) Bontrager of Middlebury; 30 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren; stepmother, Mary (Kurtz) Bontrager of Topeka; three sisters, Katie (John) Hochstetler of LaGrange, Ida (Leroy) Weaver of Shipshewana, Fannie (Perry) Lehman of Topeka; sister-in-law, Mary Bontrager of Middlebury.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; great-grandson, Isaiah Bontrager; stepmother, Bertha (Yoder) Bontrager; two brothers, Eli and Levi Bontrager; sister Mary Slabaugh.
Ervin was a farmer and factory worker. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

Jaymar Dean Bontrager, six-day-old son of Samuel Jr. and Mary Sue (Yoder) Bontrager, of LaGrange, died at 5:37 pm on Monday, January 18 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. He was born on January 12, 2021 in LaGrange.
Survivors in addition to his parents are grandparents, Sam and Verna Bontrager, Alvin and Amanda Sue Yoder both of LaGrange; great-grandparents, Levi and Orpha Eash of Wawaka, Daniel S. Bontrager of LaGrange; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Daniel and Alma Beechy, Elmer Yoder, Ida Bontrager, Menno and Susie Bontrager.

Lettie H. Bontrager, 81, of Ligonier died at 7:35 pm on Thursday, December 30, at her residence. She was born on October 10, 1940 in LaGrange County to Harvey and Mary (Troyer) Eash. On October 19, 1961 in LaGrange County, she married William E. Bontrager, he survives.
Survivors in addition to her husband are five daughters, Arlene (David) Herschberger of Ligonier, Marietta (Tim) Lamdon of Goshen, Ada Mae (Ernest) Yoder of Middlebury, Leanna (John) Yoder of LaGrange, Vera (Harvey) Fry of Ligonier; seven sons, Orla (Ruth Ann) Bontrager of Shipshewana, Wilbur (Catrice) Bontrager of Rose, OK, Vernon (Lorene) Bontrager of LaGrange, Mahlon (Wanita Kay) Bontrager of Sears, MI, Mervin (Edith) Bontrager of Middlebury, Herman (Doris) Bontrager of LaGrange, Marion Bontrager of Goshen; 74 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Miller of Shipshewana; brother, Mervin Eash of Shipshewana; brother-in-law, Elmer M. Bontrager of Shipshewana.

Levi E. Bontrager, 86, of Wolcottville, died at 3:10 pm on Monday, April 12 at his residence. He was born on January 5, 1935 in Chouteau, OK, to Ezra and Clara (Miller) Bontrager. On March 19, 1959 he married Mary Ellen Bontrager she died September 2, 2010. On September 22, 2011 he married Emma Miller she survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are two stepsons, Elva (Radene) Miller of Middlebury, Orla Miller of Elkhart six stepdaughters, Edna Mae (Levi) Bontrager of Vestaburg, MI, Laura (Ervin) Bontrager, Ruby Yoder, Irene (Ernest) Miller, Mary Etta (Melvin) Mishler, Emma (Melvin) Miller all of Hillsboro, WI many step grandchildren and great-grandchildren sister, Edna (William W.) Levi was a retired farmer and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

Mary A. Bontrager, 93, of Topeka, passed away at 11:30 am, on Monday, November 15, at her home of natural causes. She was born on February 23, 1928, in Plain City, OH, to Andy and Sarah (Beachy) Kurtz. On May 22, 1988, she married Amos D. Bontrager in Jamesport, MO; he died on October 4, 2003.
Surviving are three step daughters, Katie (John) Hochstetler of LaGrange, Ida (LeRoy) Weaver of Shipshewana, Fannie (Perry) Lehman of Topeka; recent caregiver, Mary Schwartz; 62 step grandchildren, 288 step great-grandchildren, 156 step great-great -grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; stepsons, twin boys Eli and Levi and Ervin Bontrager; stepdaughter Mary Slabaugh; seven step grandchildren; three step great-great grandchildren; one step great-great granddaughter.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

Samuel “Sam” Bontrager, 89, of Middlebury, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 1:50 pm on Friday, September 3, at his residence. He was born February 27, 1932 in LaGrange County to Noah and Lena (Eash) Bontrager. On February 5, 1959 in Shipshewana, he married Esther Miller, she survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, David (Thelma) Bontrager of Middlebury, Thomas Bontrager and Philip (Shannon) Bontrager both of Goshen; two daughters, Rebecca (Gerald) Yoder and Beth (Ryan) Hershberger both of Goshen; 13 grandchildren, Timothy, Jonathan (Jessica), Jason (Jennifer), and Sarah Yoder, Vaughn Bontrager, Renita, (Matthew) Coblentz, Marissa, and Javan Bontrager, Claire and Alec Hershberger, Ava, Hudson, and Cole Bontrager; two great grandchildren; a brother John (Esther) Bontrager of Canton, OH; two sisters-in-law, Susie (Daniel) Bontrager of Topeka and Mary (Perry) Bontrager of Millersburg; a brother-in-law, Lloyd (Rosa) Yoder of Middlebury and special friends, Ray and Bertha Yutzy of Kalona, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Daniel and Perry Bontrager; and two sisters Mary (David) Schmucker and Luella (Lloyd) Yoder.
Sam was the owner of Goshen Supply for 23 years. He worked at Oaklawn as an Advocate for the Amish for 13 years. Sam was on many boards including Oaklawn, Clinton Christian School, Woodlawn Christian School, Menno Hof, and Faith Builders Education Programs. He had several hobbies including fishing, collecting antiques, and watching church league softball. Sam was a member of Woodlawn Mennonite Church for 60 years.
Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 pm on both Sunday and Monday September 5th and 6th, at Woodlawn Mennonite Church, 62861 CR 41 Goshen. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 7, also at the church. Services will be conducted by Woodlawn Mennonite Church Pastoral Team. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be given to Rest Haven (Oaklawn Psychiatric Center).

Centreville - Suzann A. Bontrager of Rambadt Rd. Centreville, MI, was born September 10, 1972 in Centreville, MI and passed away peacefully on July 3, 2021 at 11:30 PM in Burlington Junction, Missouri; surrounded by her family after a 5-month battle with cancer. She was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
She is survived by her parents: Amas C. and Katie D. Bontrager, 1 sister Joanna Bontrager of Ether, MO. 2 brothers: Daniel A. married to Dorcas Coblentz of Burlington Junction, MO, and Mahlon A. married to Miriam Hochstetler of Ethel, MO. 2 nieces: Suzanne Kay married to Ivan Burkholder and Dianna Amanda Bontrager. 9 nephews: Joshua M. Bontrager, David M. Bontrager, Reuben M. Bontrager, Michael M. Bontrager, Daniel Anthony Bontrager, Andrew M. Bontrager, Mervin M. Bontrager, David Arlyn Bontrager, and Steven James Bontrager.
She was preceded in death by a twin sister Ruthann, an infant sister, 1 nephew Jonathon Wayne, and her grandparents.
Suzann touched many lives through her 30 seasons of working at Red Barn Greenhouse in Centreville and teaching 15 terms of school. Suzann had many dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 2-8 PM and Wednesday, July 7, 2021 from 10-8 PM at the Lonnie Bontrager Residence 59014 Rambadt Road, Centreville, MI 49032. Funeral Services will be on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at 8:30 AM also at the Lonnie Bontrager residence. Burial will follow in the Old Order Amish Cemetery.

Vera Bontrager, 83, of Goshen, died at 3:28 am on Sunday, December 26, at her residence. She was born on May 12, 1938, in Middlebury to Monroe and Wilma (Hochstetler) Miller. On May 8, 1958 in Middlebury she married Orus U. Bontrager, he died May 29, 2010.
Surviving are seven sons, Duane Bontrager of Goshen, Elroy (Vera) Bontrager of Goshen, Marion (Susan) Bontrager of Millersburg, David (Rachel) Bontrager of Goshen, Robert (Martha) Bontrager of Millersburg, Steven (Linda) Bontrager of Shipshewana, Loren (LuAnn) Bontrager of Middlebury; three daughters, Susan (Earl) Lambright of Goshen, Barbara (Vernon) Yoder of Topeka, Rosanne (Orvan) Lambright of Millersburg; a daughter-in-law, Alice (Chris) Bontrager of Shipshewana; 56 grandchildren; 64 great grandchildren; three brothers, Alvin (Elsie) Miller of Middlebury, Howard (Lillian) Miller of Goshen, David (Honye) Miller of Centreville, MI; two sisters, Ruby Troyer of Shipshewana, Leora (Chuck) Kovacs of Aberdeen, SD; sister-in-law, Esther (Levi) Hostetler of Shipshewana.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sons, Dean and Eugene Bontrager; a grandson; a great granddaughter; and a brother, Ernest Miller.
Vera was a homemaker and member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be after 1:00 pm on Monday, December 27, and all day Tuesday, December 28, at the family's residence, 62060 County Rd. 43 Goshen. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Wednesday, December 29, also at the family's residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Perry S. Miller and the home ministers. Burial will be in Clinton Union Cemetery, Goshen.
Bontreger, Lois Marie Whitehead Kaufman
October 31, 1930 - July 30, 2021
Lois Marie Whitehead Kaufman Bontreger was born October 31, 1930, to Merl and Edna Whitehead in Goshen. On April 9, 1950, she married Melvin Ray Kaufman from Johnstown, Pennsylvania at the Rock Run Church of the Brethren near Goshen. Mel passed away in 2014. On May 1, 2015, at the age of 84, she married Harold Bontreger of Goshen.
Lois attended Waterford Elementary School, Goshen High School and Goshen College. She was active in the North Goshen Mennonite Church and held many offices there including teaching Sunday School, Bible School and Bible Study. She enjoyed working on community projects, such as Church Women United and The Window, Fairfield Extension Homemakers Club and volunteering at The Depot Thrift Store. She was also the owner/operator of Draperies by Lois, Inc. for 46 years and enjoyed the interaction of her customers, friends and employees. In 2015 she became a member of Clinton Frame Church where she was also active in Bible Studies and the ladies monthly sewing group.
Three children were born into the family, Charles Kaufman of Tucson, Arizona, Gail (Kevin) Brumbaugh of Wakarusa, and Donald (Kris) Kaufman of Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Christopher (Stacey) Harris, David (Brittany) Harris, Allie (Daniel) Chatham, Bryn Kaufman and Colton Kaufman. She also enjoyed being with seven great grandchildren, Alexis, Coy, Thomas and Scot Harris and Luke, Philip and James Chatham, two step-great grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. There are two stepsons, Tim (Laurie) Bontreger of Goshen and Kent (Becky) Bontreger of Middlebury and five step-grandchildren, Tori (Brad) Blosser, Amy Stutzman, Jamie (Naomi) Cross, Kristian (Shana) Bontreger and Michael Cross and nine step-great grandchildren. Lois is survived by a sister, Roberta Carpenter Leonard, Goshen.
Visitation will be Friday, August 6, 2021, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at Clinton Frame Church. A funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. Yoder-Culp Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to The Depot Thrift Store of Goshen, an organization that Lois loved and spent many hours enjoying the work and fellowship. Lois has touched many lives over the years with her positive attitude and love for the Lord. She will be missed.
Borkholder, Eli D. S.

Eli D. S. Borkholder, age 94 of Bremen, IN, died at 8:20pm on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at his residence. Mr. Borkholder was born on March 28, 1927 in Marshall County, IN to David J. and Sovilla (Borkholder) Borkholder. On October 21, 1948 Eli married Anna E. Lehman in Lagrange County, IN. She preceded him in death on January 19, 2013.
Mr. Borkholder was a member of the Old Order Amish Church and was a lifelong area resident.
He is survived by 7 children: Willis E. (Freida) Borkholder of Nappanee, Owen E. (Carolyn) Borkholder of Nappanee, Viola E. (Willard) Miller of New Paris, IN, Eli Jr. (Ruth) Borkholder of Bremen, IN, Allen E. (Sharon) Borkholder of Bremen, IN, Lucy E. (Darryl) Hochstetler of Nappanee, IN, and Susie (Randal) Hochstetler of Bremen, IN; 44 grandchildren; 123 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; 2 sisters, Emma Cobbum of Goshen, IN and Anna Whetstone of WI; and 1 sister in law, Dorothy Borkholder of Nappanee.
Eli was preceded in death by his parents; wife; 1 grandson; 2 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, William Borkholder, Lewis Borkholder, and Owen Borkholder; 3 sisters, Amanda Kauffman, Carolina Miller, and Katie Borkholder; 2 half-brothers, Melvin Borkholder and Jonas Borkholder; and 2 half-sisters, Ada Yoder and Lizzie Ann Schwartz.
Friends and family may call at the Randal Hochstetler residence (2026 B Rd, Bremen, IN) after 2pm Thursday, November 25, 2021 and all-day Friday, November 26, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 9:30am Saturday, November 27, 2021 also at the Randal Hochstetler residence. Burial will follow at Borkholder Cemetery.

Calvin Borntrager, 85, of Goshen died at 11:00 pm, on Saturday, September 25, after a short stay at Avalon Village Nursing Care, Ligonier. He was born on September 12, 1936, in Canton, OH, to Chris and Lydia Ann (Miller) Borntrager. On May 27, 1956, in Middlebury he married Rosa Cross, she died April 15, 2012.
Surviving are son, Philip (Evelyn) Borntrager of Singers Glen, VA; three daughters, Ruth (Kervin) Hershberger of Shipshewana, Mary (Craig) Rufenacht of Archbold, OH, Leah Borntrager of Frankfort; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way; two sisters, Verda Vallejo of Phoenix, AZ, Elsie Borntrager of Goshen; four brothers, Lloyd Borntrager of Goshen, Urie Borntrager of Sarasota, FL, Milton (JoAnn) Borntrager of Louisville, KY, Larry (Mary Esther) Borntrager of Middlebury; two sisters-in-law, Pauline Borntrager of Goshen, Laverda Borntrager of Corydon, GA.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; son, Nathan Borntrager; two brothers, Ernie and Lee Roy Borntrager; three sisters-in-law, Meredith Borntrager, Evelyn Borntrager, Edna Borntrager; brother-in-law, Benny Vallejo.
Calvin was a retired pastor and member of Townline Conservative Mennonite Church. He was the senior pastor of the Townline Conservative Mennonite Church for 40+ years. He also worked at Starcraft, Miller Brother Builders, Goshen Supply, Supreme and Goshen Lighting Gallery. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and requested that Christ be the center of attention instead of himself when he is gone.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 and 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday, September 30 at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street, Middlebury. There will also be one hour of viewing prior to the 10:30 am funeral service on Friday October 1, at Townline Mennonite Church, Shipshewana. Services will be conducted by Pastor Dean Yoder. Burial will be in Townline Cemetery, Shipshewana. Memorials may be given to Menno-Hof, Gospel Echoes and World Missionary Press. Levi Borntrager, age 72 of Nappanee, IN, died at 1:22pm, Sunday, November 21, 2021 at his residence. He was born on February 7, 1949 in Blair, WI to Isaiah and Millie (Lambright) Borntrager. On March 19, 1970 he married Amanda Wickey in Berne, IN. The Borntragers moved to the Nappanee area in 2009 from Rochester, IN and are members at Bethel Missionary Church. Mr. Borntrager enjoyed woodworking and had most recently worked at Hoosier Interior Door in Goshen, IN.
He is survived by his wife, Amanda Borntrager of Nappanee and 6 siblings: sister, Mary (Henry) Yoder of MN; brother, Menno (Dawn) Borntrager of WI; brother, Felty (Lydia) Borntrager of WI; sister, Mattie (Edwin) Yoder of NE; brother, Dan (Barbara Ann) Borntrager of IN and sister, Fannie (Freddie) Borntrager of MN.
Mr. Borntrager was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lizzie Kurtz; brother Roy Borntrager; and sister, Katie Yoder.
Graveside services will be held at Noon on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Bethel Mennonite Church Cemetery. Gilbert Miller along with home ministries of the Bethel Mennonite Church will officiate.
